Programs TOBFC will support with the proceeds of Curling for Equity:
Our Menstrual Equity Program
We plan to provide 1000 girls with packets of reusable maxi pads (4 pads per packet). Our community-based, social worker provides the students with a robust sexual and reproductive health seminar, as well as educates the students regarding menstrual hygiene, health and pad maintenance.
Our Healthy Mamas Program (Birth Kits)
We plan to provide 400 women with Birth Kits which allows them to deliver their babies in registered health facilities. Every year, TOBFC distributes Birth Kits to vulnerable women who otherwise would not be able to afford the cost of the kits. Birth Kits include 3 pairs of surgical gloves, a plastic dish and a plastic bed sheet. These kits can be cost prohibitive but are mandated by ALL medical facilities in Tanzania.
Our Healthy Mamas Program (Reproductive Health)
We have expanded our Healthy Mamas program to include a comprehensive family planning program operated through our Mobile Medical Clinic. The program connects vulnerable women to birth control. This allows women to exert control over their reproductive journeys. Additionally, this year, we launched a gynaecological education and health campaign that connects women to vital information about female cancers, as well as financing cervical screening for women. We plan to provide over 500 women with these services.
Our Food Support Program (Older Adult Care)
Many of the vulnerable older adults enrolled in our Food Support program are widows who have lost their children to the AIDS pandemic. Every month, over 250 individuals, mostly women, benefit from our food and hygiene product distributions that target the most vulnerable older adults living in the communities served by TOBFC.
Help us positively impact thousands of vulnerable girls and women.
